Now Entering The Ring...
« on: May 23, 2006, 04:10:29 am »
I have come to the decesion that I am aiming to join the ranks of the WoW players.  I think I am going to focus on PvP using a rouge. Depending on what I can find, I will be shooting for duel weilding daggers, for maximum DPS. I will learn the ropes as a human rouge for awhile until the Burning Crusade expansion comes out, then jump ship to be a Blood Elf.

I want some input from your personal experience. Give me a rundown of PvP enviroments on different servers, how hard equipment is to get, your personal opinions about classes and professions, and anything else you think would be helpful to a newby.

Being a Rogue myself i'll try help you out.

I play on a PvE server so I can normally only BG.

Anyways. Start off the fact you are human, you have Perception and +4 skill to swords and axes (I think it's axes)

A good thing about perception is you see a rogue stealth in your sight, pop perception you will see him/her.

Duel wielding swords are quite good, if you manage to spec 5/5 swords in your combat talent tree you sometimes get an extra attack on proc.

Duel wielding ome-hand maces I never tried and I don'' know anyone that does because apparantly there are A) No good 1H maces around B) The 5/5 Mace spec hardly ever stuns, same for spec fist weapons.

Daggers on the other hand are cool. Plenty variety just like swords, only good thing with daggers is you can Ambush and Backstab, with swords you cannot do that.

Now lets look through the talent trees.

Assassination: 20 point cold blood for PvP, if you can stay alive long enough you can pop CB and Eviscerate,
or CB then Ambush

Combat: Lightning reflexes to increase dodge, Duel wield spec, Parry chance and Riposte to disarm them, maybe blade flurry if you're dealing with 2 opponents, but 31 point Adrenaline Rush can be you're I.W.I.N button

Subtelty: Premeditation if you have time on your hands, Ghostly Strike if you want, do NOT put any points into Improved Distract, it's useless as hell

Now lets go to the class you might be fighting

Warlock: Use ambush, if you stunlock their Deathcoil ability is instant and makes you run causing damage, giving them time to DOT you, if they are using their Succubus demon try kill their Succubus because they can easily Seduce, Fear, Shadowbolt, Seduce and so forth

Priest: They might have their shield up, or they won't, either way I opener with Ambush then backstab, when they heal theirselves depending on their mana you could blind and bandage, but priests melt faces so if you are PvP spec you have an ok chance, if not then try not to attack one

Mage: NEVER stunlock, they have that ability to blink and you are like: WTF? Where did they go? Then you find yourself being kited to death

Rogue: Cheapshot then Rupture, the DOT will allow them to vanish but it'll break their stealth blowing their 5-min CD  after that Gouge, backstab etc. Or KS here and ther building CP's on them

Druid: Myself usualy dies of boredom before a druid actually kills me :S they might root you in place and use Fairie Fire which makes sure you can't use Vanish, so if you get Rooted Vanish before they get chance, then attack again

Hunter: Arguably our anti-class, usually they are total pussies and put hunters mark on you then run away, place a trap down, sit on it and flare etc. Try and stunlock if you can, but their darn abilities with their guns and bows are annoying, they like to rely on kiting you, more often than non they succeed.

Paladin: If you are dueling a paladin that 2/2 imp kick might help when they cast holy light, but any good-minded paladin uses HoJ then does holy light

Shaman: I would suggest taking down their totems 1st, their earthbind totems are annoying making you slow down so they can run away and kite you, use frostshock etc. Pretty tricky

Warrior: Start with a stunlock, and really pound them to hell, if you are below certain health they can use Execute to rape you, so if you are finding yourself low on health, blind and bandage. Start pounding them again

A note on stunlocks: If you are facing an Orc they have a 25% chance to resist a stun, so an Ambush wouldn't go amiss

Well that's my insite into it, remember that flash powder, poisons and blind is your friend. Good luck being a PvP king

I'm not familar with all the terminology yet ( I can take a guess ), but I got the main idea. I was gona aim for dagger because it allows you all the Rouge class skills (which I think may be worth the loss of the extra  base damage). Swords might just look more stylish though.

I really want to get into the stunlock combos, those seem like a very effective PvP tactic.

I have heard the Alliance specific class was really good, (either Preist or Paladin, can't remember at the moment), but I just think being able to selectivley pick your prey is a much better advantage.

You should start a Blood Elf Rouge when the expansion comes out, the only thing more insane than a cracked out rouge is 2 cracked out rouges.

its "ROGUE" "ROUGE" is tigering makeup.

Paladin is the alliance class healbot. Basically if you try to fight one of these be nice and just bring a condom so they can finish with you nicely after a 5 hour long fight with horridly low DPS mixed with invulnerable healing.

the best class for noobs to play is rogue or warrior. not alot of buttons to press and high dps.

maybe even an emolock.

/shrug.

Look at my profile z0mg c'thun downed for Inq!

PS:
Blackrock is the best server on the list. Don't let any european igit tell you different

Ugh, "rogue".

lol.

I'm not looking for the newb route, I'm aiming to focus on just one class.

I don't like to party with people, too much of a pain getting a decent party together, splitting items, ect...

So i figure a potion dependent rogue would be fine, i can mass kill enemies lower than me for training (quick flurry of skills to bring em down quick), and if i am going for items i'll try to get a party.

PS: Would be nice to get a rundown of the servers avalible to me.

Like I said, that was MY insight, it differes per person.

It's not like n00bs choose rogues and warriors (I seen my bro MT and yes it's easy) I usually see n00bs choose hunters because all they do is flare, shoot, use pet etc. and all that crap.

Emolocks lawl, to me you can either play them well or you don't (Deathcoil FTL)

So now some American facemelter who will get Burning Crusade before us so he can gloat *cough* Daegan

MMOs are created for partying. being a social reject gets you nowhere.

rogues die easily but they kill wolf fast because of their retardedly OP attacks with proper speccing.

Pornolink, i'll have it maybe 5 hours before you assuming i buy it on launch day. QQ MORE NEWB

But one good thing about Rogues is their Crowd Control

Very useful in Warsong Gulch... most of the time not

Spec that rogue properly you'll be ok, also remember Rogues are probably the biggest whiners of all classes especially when they never ostrich about hunters

Meh, I would like to go warrior, but I am not a fan of partys. From what I hear I can train by myself or a couple friends and be fine.

The only time i plan to team up is for quests, and only on the ones I need to.
