Mickey, this is looking great. I don't suppose we could do some fancier stuff with lighting, could we? Items casting shadows based on the sun's location? Might just  be a pain in the ass.

Thanks. Well, shadows are a fancy feature that is for looks really, not a real feature. I am not sure how much work it would be. Plus if I make them dynamic, the land elevation tiles wouldn't match the lighting and who knows what it would be like. I would rather, at this point, spend my time adding real features in, like magic, you know. It could be a future feature to consider though.

to me shadows seem like a lot of work that not many people will actually even notice...and with an option to turn off shadows(like many games have) most people won't even see them.
why does Fox keep cancelling good shows?

That's true. Maybe if the transition from day to night was longer and smoother (I actually don't remember what it was like in v5)? As the afternoon turns to evening turns to night, the screen is slowly getting darker. And vice versa for morning.

V5 night time was mild because it didn't have any real light sources for players yet so the transition was probably not too noticable if anything.

I am rethinking the client layout. I think the world/tactical view is too big and the transparency is causing issues too that I can't figure out. I am leaning towards the V1/V2 layout.

Edit: oops, move the player to the middle of the green.

If that's the way it ends up being, it's really not the worst thing in the world. The interface does look.. massive though.

Think I'd rather it be closer to V2 with the chat across the bottom, map in top right.

If I was using a proper game library then I wouldn't have these issues but I am just using basic windows GUI. This client should run on Mac and Linux I bet since it using just .Net.

I can't put chat to the left because I would have to reduce the tactical map view and then we have the same size as V2. So I want everything to the right.

I kind of like that view with the chat and map. I like seeing the map open all the time.

I like this layout better to be honest. The current one, as you said, feels to big. Also, I think that the tactical view should be a square.

maybe its just me, but wouldn't it be better if the player/play area was on the right and the interface stuff on the left?  I could just feel this way because my desk is in the corner of the room and I'm often glancing off at the tv(to my right), but I feel even if the tv was on the left of me I'd want the play area on the right...

I feel if it was on the right the game would feel awkward, I have my tv on the left side of my screen and I feel like it would feel better on the left though.
