I agree fail xp is high. Is there a +- on skill rolls as at 66 mining I get messages saying a skill roll >= 61 is needed to mine an ore  ::)

I think a skill roll is 1 to SkillValue.  In V1/V2 I think it did a +- 20 of your SkillValue.

in other words if the ore takes 61 to mine, and hes at 66 he has less than a 10% chance to mine it?  that sort of makes your level to mine actually cap your chances of mining something even when you're well above that level.  we'll have to be at twice the level required to have even odds.

again I don't like the min level to mine an item.  I say make the better ores harder to mine(more work required), then add better tools so we can mine them(see my post about an alternate mining formula)...and you won't have to worry about fail xp either.

The min lvl to mine isn't so bad if you don't have the effort to knock down on top of needing a lot more skill than the min to have 100% success.

I'm currently at 81 mining skill. Mining cinnabar ore it still fails to hit effort and gives me a skill roll of >=61 needed message. Just had it about 10 times in a row.   :D

With a stone shovel it seems to use around 13-15 dura per cinnabar ore so 2 ore per shovel.

May be better once we have other lvls of tools. Have to see how they scale with the amount of effort/dura before I can say.

I think the reason mining is such good exp at the moment isn't the fail exp it is the stam usage to dig. For 5 regen ticks you can only do 6 things with any other skill but with 5 regen ticks you can mine 15 times so 9 more exp gains than any other skill per stam usage.

May be an idea to make all usage's 2 stam see how it evens out (which would be my vote :D ) or put mining back to 5 stam as it is making it the preferred way to lvl up if it stays as it is because it gives more exp than combat and your str/life gains are the best from mining.

Hmm yeah i can see changing mining back to 5 stamina for now at least.
