Or if you're into more hardcore games, look up Heroes of Newerth. It's like League but with much more competitive mechanics.

Dota 2 isn't bad, but both DotA and LoL have this feel where you can make mistakes and be forgiven. Walk too far into a lane? No big deal, take some damage and walk away. In HoN, one wrong move can mean the end of your life (and sometimes the end of the game). I realize not many people like this mechanic, but I've been playing it for 2 years and I can't have it any other way.

That's called balance. On HoN if you get one kill you just stomp the entire enemy team for the whole game. LoL is more based on teamplay. It's hard to get way ahead of others as a single person, but losing a 5v5 teamfight often means the end of the game, and the main thing is to win team objectives, even if youre a lot better than your opponents, alone you're gonna have a hard time accomplishing anything solo.

This makes it pretty clear you haven't played much (if any) HoN. All three games are 100% team based. All three games have heroes/champions that scale differently and are stronger at specific times in the game.

My original point is HoN is much less forgiving on mistakes. If you keep making mistakes, you will lose, simple as that.

Heroes are no harder to kill in DotA than they are in HoN, I can understand how you would say LoL can be more forgiving because of summoner spells. But DotA and HoN are on the same level of difficulty, it all boils down to a preference of GUI, hero balance, server responsiveness, and the community.

The speed is scaled differently in both games. In HoN, movement is faster, animation speeds are faster.. reactions are much harder to pull off due to the reaction speed you need to maintain. It's not about the heroes being tougher or harder to kill, just about the game mechanics. It is why you'll notice people who play DoTA that came from HoN generally do better than people starting with DoTA (HoN players tend to be APM crazy).
