Edit button not happening since that means posts change which equals bad.

These badges change everything

how can changing a post be bad?  say you write a word like cirpigfrence, then click post and notice your word was stupidly filtered(that filter has problems too) and want to go back and fix it.  you can't!  would only take 2 seconds to add a hyphen or space so the word circ-umfrence can actually be seen.

I mean your filter is a real bitch...honestly, why is the word ha-rd filtered but not bitch?

also the only changes I see from the badges is that it pushes the actual posting area farther to the right and makes the left column longer so you have more to scroll through...and the emails, 'new private message' just because of a badge.  do you know what my email inbox looks like?

If you're going to add badges, add a page where we can view our entire collection, where it explains how you got the badges you've got.

As for post editing, changing a post when it contains something that the poster got in trouble for is something to avoid, but can't we have an edit button until somebody posts? That way, when a mod scolds a user for posting something bad, the user's already lost the edit to that post by default.
Often times where the edit button would be used, and people complain about it missing, is when they have to double post to add in one little thing, or note that "Hey, I meant to remove those tags, that wasn't a quote right there."

Also, back to the badges: These are just gonna encourage poor posting. People think "Hey if I spam a bunch of posts, I'll get badges!"

Good going, Hero, you broke it.

Here is hoping this doesn't turn into certain Blizzard forums where half the topic posts are just "Deleted by ... " lol

since this is the thread that got us an edit button, I'm going to bring this up here...

I have 3 ideas that(if only 1 is used) could improve the forums.

idea 1: when someone applauds or smites you, it tells you who.
downside: could cause smite wars
upside: could stop 1 person repeatedly smiting another

idea 2: remove karma and add a thing like on youtube(where there are so many likes and dislikes for a video) give it 5 settings, {hate/dislike/neutral/ok/like} each person can set any other person to any of these settings.
downside: everyone would lose their karma
upside: everyone would lose their karma

idea 3: keep karma, but only allow each person to smite or applaud another person once.
downside: some people need to be smitten more than once
upside: impossible to start a smite fight
why does Fox keep cancelling good shows?
