client or browser?
« on: May 17, 2012, 10:28:32 pm »
from the post just made in the 'current task' thread it seems you're going browser based with this, any particular reason?  there was no thread with stuff like this so I figured we'd have a thread for everyone to ask you not to go browser base since browser games suck(I honestly can't think of 1 that doesn't).

before you go down that road I have to atleast ask 2 questions:
how set are you on going browser based?(hoping to change your mind)
why do you think this is the way to go?(since every browser game ever sucks)
why does Fox keep cancelling good shows?

Silverlight is browser based but can also be Out-Of-Browser but keeping it in browser for now. My first "mickey task" post mentions it.

1. Not fully set. It is way early yet. Can switch to XNA since I am using .net
2. It not "the" way to go. There are many choices but it does offer ease of install (for public places, school, etc) and some cross platform support (Mac). Keep in mind all the VB6 online games sucked until I made RPGWO :)

I have already proven Silverlight can handle what I want since V3 was in Silverlight. It just sucked cuz of facebook limits.

Oh, I should put up colony... hmm, but I am close to getting first V4 version up then you can comment.
Nothing set in stone.

why am I tempted to say pride goes before the fall?(make no comments about my name I fall often :P)  if you really think you can pull off a great game in a browser go for it...even though I'd prefer a stand alone client.

if its not atleast as good as V2 you'll be hearing lots of complaints from me. :P

If you do go browser, I would appreciate if you did it Minecraft style--You can either play in in browser, or by stand-alone client.

Will servers have to be out-of-browser anyways?
