triple post...

found a couple of bugs, 1 is nothing other could cause you to lose the game when you're winning...

if you build ships at the kill screen they start randomly firing at nothing(no biggy)
if you're building a ship when trying to 'fold' you get a message saying all ships must be nearby(may not be the exact phrase)

2nd bug happens even if you have no other ships but are building 1, I decided to have a bit more fun after building my fold but then the aliens starting coming from everywhere...

Space Fold Tips and Stuff:
- it supposed to be simple, that why it doesnt have a ton of ships
- cruiser self repairs, get miners and fighters close to cruiser to get repaired
- aliens spawn from planets, starting once every 60 seconds, then every 59 seconds, 58, 57... down to every 10 seconds, rotating from all the planets.
- planets not minable cuz you would need atmospheric ships
- comet/asteroid scanning would be nice but then the game would become easy and it only matters with asteroids cuz they have iron or uranium (10% chance)
- the game only meant to be played for about 15 minutes, so saving/loading not critical
- cruiser HP might be high but when the aliens really start coming at you, it helps, but I can see setting it from 500 to 300?
- all your ships need to be near cruiser to fold, can't leave anyone behind
- use cruiser to kill alien fighters, use fighters to kill alien bombers
- flank alien bombers so your fighters don't run into the alien missles
- draw alien fighters close to cruiser since cruisers have best firepower

It took me about 4 tries before I finally was able to solve/win the game. Finding uranium is the key to a fast victory or slow a slow death.
You may have conquered my worlds, but I destroyed them!

now that you're done with your little space game are you coming back to RPGWO or are you just going to let it die?  or are you working on something else now?

if Mickey steps in he can possibly save it there is still an RPGWO community and we all want to play, or he can let it die and give up on all the hard work hes put into it over the years...

I agree with Nash, heh.

I did however, give V2 to Gary. So he should be opening up something... some day.

I guess I can open up a normal, empty, PK world, if players can't wait. Hmm, maybe set Xp to like 5x gain or something crazy fun. Bah, I think I said any next world I make would be modern but I guess I am not really making anything new so it doesn't count?

V2 was fun. Although new servers could be hosted, it would be more novelty than anything else.

The only thing I would be interested in is a V4. If this is in fact what you decide to work on, it would be nice to see a page dedicated to it with some ideas/features and a button to donate.

The genre is obviously popular and I think you could be king if you stepped up to the throne.

LOL I doubt V4 would be out for some time, but then again... RPGWO mod for minecraft would be very epic. Would take some time to make though...

I was actually working on this for a bit. I had trees turn into logs when destroyed that would need to be sawed to obtain wood. They also dropped branches which you could use to load braziers and you could light them up. I added all the RPG ore to the world and added a bunch of plants to the world (mana plants looked awesome). I was just working on the interfaces for skill points and training new skills when an update came out and somehow none of my code worked anymore. Combined with a lack of motivation (I was the only one working on this project as none of my friends had ever played RPGWO and didn't care to help replicate it), the project was abandoned.

Overall, I think the feel of Minecraft is too unique.. and no amount of modding will make me think "RPGWO" instead of "Minecraft". It's close though.. and if there was a completed mod I'd still play it, but it would be in an attempt to try to fill the RPGWO sized hole in my heart.

Yeah, RPGWO will always have a place in my heart plus all those that played and supported it with time and $$ and ideas, my grateful thanks to them!

Gonna start a new post to talk about what I am working on now...

Please use Unity 3D for the new RPGWO game.

Dead Frontier was created with Unity and it is awesome,
the detail of the quality depends only on the effort you're willing to input.

RPGWO has always been my favorite game of all time. I love the graphics, the flexibility, the way stats and skills work...

What I would like to see is you putting it out there into the world more. Make the same game (with a few tweaks such as the ones suggested in the other thread), and make it for multiple platforms and perhaps if it kicks off ADVERTISE! :P

On top of that, I would love for it to be more open source, so if you use GITHUB and let us FORK that wolf, we could help out by submitting code and bugfixes, and you could also keep track of bugs and issues much easier.

I personally would love to be able to help out, submit bits of code to the project, and what-have-you...

Give it a thought Mickey...

Extremely restrictive on development if only one person is developing.. It would take forever to get things done like that. :P
