Specialization

Specializing should be a little more creative than just leveling speed

If two people create the same character with the same attributes, but one person specializes bow, they will be the exactly the same until maybe 10-15 levels later a noticable difference in their bow level.

thats boring.

add more variety like access to different weapons, abilities or spells. then there would maybe be reason to specialize in skills like swim, trap, and cooking etc.

specialization is necessary in this type of game or skill sets become useless like cooking... there should be an immediate benefit for specializing. this would in effect create more player interaction. cooks would be able to make foods with special effects and perform tasks a non specialized person wouldnt be able to do. The benefits should make specializing attractive depending on the style you want to play the game.

Please, No.  Since you can only specialize at character creation this would mean people would get a person and level up his skill to do this awesome thing and then bam, requires specialization.
BTW double exp is a little more noticeable than 10-15 levels later

make a way so that mistake isnt made, maybe on the usage (requires specialization). and on the character creation screen. whos stupid enough to level something without checking the requirements of what they want to make or use

It is for minors (but not majors, megas, ...) and that probably won't be permanent.

my point is that there is nothing wrong adding content. so some people who didnt do their research leveled something up without knowing you had to specialize. it should be given so you dont waste your own time. its not like people arent used to leveling up only to get dissapointed.

adding content is great, making it so a trader(like me) can't make half the crap they could before because you can only specialize so many skills isn't

I created my char with mining specced...its the only skill I'll ever spec because you need to level it fast early on, and any other skill by the time you need the levels you have potions and jewels(usually) so it doesn't matter

I do like the idea of having something extra for specialized skills, but not usages...maybe if you spec a skill you start with a better weapon/tool for that skill than someone who doesn't

ie: specced bow(your example) start with practice bow +10 bow while unspecced starts with normal practice bow?

and you can tell a difference in somone who specced around level 5 not 10-15, and that person who specced will get to level 10-15 faster than someone who didn't because of the higher skills and being able to go for higher xp
why does Fox keep cancelling good shows?
