I don't even know how this crappy server has survived for this long. Set the experience back to normal and change whatever you did to tiger with the speed on all the monsters.
Floating maps are still a nice idea I guess but there are a few bugs with them still that are rather annoying.
If you get full XP then you get fast monsters.
What bugs with floating maps? I know I need a proper "cave exit" image.
I would try to figure what caused it otherwise same thing may happen in the future. Does it crash right away or does it take a while to crash?? memory leak? or memory limit
The same thing happened back in December/January but went away. I swore it was hacking cuz it stopped after I turned the firewall on to block the port. But after I did that this time... it still crashed with the port blocked. It also happened in June. I could log every step but it is happening everywhere, seemingly. Might be a garbage collection thing, if VB6 has it. I wonder if the EXE is too big... it is over 4 meg. Maybe there is a 4g byte limit. Maybe I'll try to remove some old, un-used code... like guilds!!!
I was already looking to wipe Horizon anyways. Um, and it would get a new name. I don't usually re-use world names.
So I think I came up with a good idea for a new world. A hybrid Dungeon world. It would be just like Dungeon but have claimable surface and mining. A modest size map, maybe 400x400 or 600x600, with NO wilderness spawns. All monsters would be in the dungeon. Well, cows and sheep would be around. That way non-combat people could still play. Hmm, just checked Horizon size and it is 1200 so maybe do 600x600 but add more lower levels and turn down the mining level difficulty the lower you go.
