I didn't write this up, Dr Doctor from Citizenscoup.net did.

This upcomming weekend marks Blizzard's Worldwide Invitational, which this year will be in Paris. With over more than 12 hours each day of endless activities from discussion panels with developers to live WoW raids- we can expect some major action, and news. Blizzard has been notorious at their invitationals to give some some insight as to what they have in the works for us- Starcraft 2 at their WWI in Seoul Korea. So we can only hope that this weekend we'll be getting a glimpse at what Blizzard has cooking for us!

With only a few more days until the big event there are already a TON of speculations and buzzing about the Blizzard web page. On Monday, June 23rd, Blizzard placed a splash image leading to their main page: http://www.blizzard.com/us/splash.html. As the days have progressed it seems the image has slowly been updated- the ice is beginning to crack and random images are appearing on the ice. One can only assume that this block of ice will break to signify the opening of the Worldwide Invitational in Paris, but whats behind it?

The entire internet has page after page, thread after thread with theories and assumptions as to what Blizzard has in store for us. Here are some of the big ones:

It has been reported that one of the runes shown in today's image resembles the Hel Rune from Diablo II.

Another report claims that there is a "3" etched in the ice symbolizing that Diablo III is behind the block of ice:

Another source believes that the icy image was a rune on Frostmore teasing towards the Wrath of the Lich King:

"Forsinain from a Diablo fans gaming site points out a pattern on the master.CSS file for today. Yesterday the name was Tundra. Today the name is Cavern. His pattern points toward one of the Diablo Acts' locations:
Glacial Trail -> Frozen Tundra (.tundra in CSS)
Glacial Trail -> Drifter Cavern (.cavern in CSS)

The speculation was true: D (04.jpg - fourth letter of the alphabet) and today\'s image O (15.jpg - 15th letter of the alphabet). At this rate the image numbers will reveal DIABLO. Tomorrow\'s image might be named as any of these file names ... 01.jpg (standing for the first letter of the alphabet: A), 02.jpg (standing for B,) 12 (standing for the twelve letter of the alphabet: L) or 09.jpg (standing for the ninth letter of the alphabet: I)." -Medievaldragon

So what on earth is Blizzard trying to tell us? Diablo III? SC2? Warcraft IV? World of Warcraft: The Lich King? World of Diablo? World of Starcraft? I guess we'll have to wait until the unveiling at the Blizzard invitational to find out.

In the mean time feel free to discuss your thoughts either on here or on the dedicated thread. Personally I would love to see a Diablo III, being an ex-long time player of Diablo II, but I'm not holding my breath.

What are your thoughts? I hope it's Diablo III. That would kickass.

There's a difference between "loving" a game, and "obsessing" over it.

I've seen so many people dedicate their entire tigering day to make tl;dr posts about their thoughts and tigering THEORIES over a god damn release date. Sort of sad.
