I'd be curious to see a decent 3D engine from you, but you'd need modelers with more experience then the 13 year olds that play this game would allow..

As for Isometric.. Not unless it would add more funtionality to the game, like multi-level buildings or something.

Hey, I'm only 14 and I can model a very graphically AK47 using Milkshape.

Just to add Isometric Graphics aren't too bad but don't make go over if you are going to do it.

I don't really play rpgwo for the graphics so iso wouldn't be neccesary if the gameplay stays exactly the same. Iso would be a good idea in like the certain stages of plant growth etc just for one example of many more things out there. But that can already be achieved with things the way they are. There is no denying the engine needs upgrading, however, I couldn't begin to tell you where as the list would go on for quite a bit. I thinkg rpgwo has developed it's own feel thats different from any other game so as long as that was still there then I guess you could do whatever you wanted to it.

Iso would be turtle.

Just keep your gfx and clean your code up.

Don't start coming up with silly ideas that will end up failing.

I actually really like that idea, just for the fact it will make it so much easier to tell where land is uneaven n stuff....

Main problem being your gonna make the admins hate you for making them redo their images

would be good i think though...
"Never argue with a stupid person. First they'll drag you down to their level, then they will beat you with experience."

"When tempted to fight fire with fire, remember that the Fire Department usually uses water."

"Some minds are like concrete, thouroughly mixed up and permanently set."

"Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you, not because they are nice, but because you are."

Well everyone knows that RPGWO needs a graphics upgrade, but if you didn't want to/couldn't go with Isometric grpahics, what other alternatives would you have?? or be willing to work with anyway.

It would help with the opinions I think.

You won't have to change any player images.

Really, just walls, surfaces, and buildings (but they will be new anyways).

Just about 90% of the images are already in isometric compatible format.

Any redos would be to upgrade the images or to add animation.

I do plan to upgrade and redo just about all plants and trees and nature crap. The alchemy plants probably won't change though, just more stages of growth.

I would say make an Isometric TEST world. Keep it basic as a Newbie island format. Leave it open for a month while taking notes of player feelings and on how they like or dislike. If majority rules, GO GO GO and continue. If not just clean the code up, and do all the other things needed to fix up/improve RPGwo.

Good to see you joined Mickster.

So can anyone else that can read/watch a tutorial.

Anyways, I think isometric is a completely horrible idea. I've played a couple isometric games, and it just never looks/feels/plays right. I think the current rpgwo is fine graphics-wise. I say just keep working on improving the system, that's what keeps people interested. The graphics are just something extra to make your eyes happy.
