Awhile ago I started work on a huge redo of weapons. But I got bored. Here's some suggestions that I planned to put into a rogue server.


All weapons should have close dps based on ore the weapon is made of.
Only difference should be some specialty included in each weapon.
Below is a list of weapon types and what they should be. Along with the special they should be associated with.

Weapon Type -- Damage Type -- Specialty
Dagger -- Thrust Damage -- 10% Crit Chance
Sword -- Cut/Thrust Damage -- Cirpigvent Armor
Flail -- Bash Damage -- Cirpigvent Shield
Scythe -- Cut Damage -- 10% Crit Chance
Axe -- Cut/Thrust Damage -- Break Shields
Mace -- Bash Damage -- Stamina Damage
Spear -- Thrust Damage -- 10% Crit, 2 range (lower dps to make up for range)
Staff -- Bash Damage -- Armor
Unarmed -- Bash Damage -- Stamina Damage
Whip -- Cut/Thrust -- Stam Damage, 2 range (lower dps to make up for range)

Magnetite(100) -- Ess steal

Etheria(700) -- Ess steal
Damonite(900) -- 20% Crit

I think it makes more sense to have the sword as the most balanced weapon of a game with each of the other weapons having varying strengths and weaknesses like for example a weapon having a higher max damage but a higher min damage as well or a higher damage but less speed crit% or accuracy

A sword is gonna cirpigvent armor... how? A sword or other edged weapon isn't gonna break through mail, it's damn near impossible. Bash damage sounds more likely to "cirpigvent armor", as mail would transfer most of the force to you making broken bones, bruises and the such very possible.  Platemail protects against both.

I always thought mag weapons should have essence steal with magic damage.

If your going to make the Req also the Blacksmith Req, you need to make weapons break faster so that BS isnt so hard to get to those high levels.

And komodo, a sword would go THROUGH mail is it was thrusted hard enough, Take for example your village idiot (if you arn't him) he goes aroun in mail while a dude with a sword comes up to him and thrusts him in the stomach QQ village dude.  But mabey dagger could go past platemail cuz it can go into small cracks easily and tear at exposed skin, unlike a sword.  but a dagger would be too weak to go through chainmail.... There we go!

The chances of hitting the small spaces in between the plate mail is like damn near impossible.

Unless the game had Rapiers and such.

Spears are better at going clean through people than swords, and crossbows even better than spears

Swords are good for decapitations, and limb removal...

Nice ideas although Axe should be Cut/Bash not Cut/Thrust.
Here is what I got out of this so far...

- Axe - Cut/Bash damage
- some weapons give bonus to twirl attack
 - twirl attack attempts to hit as many targets around the player in one attack, not sure how it will work
- beserk and defensive attacks
 - beserk increases skill by a number but decreases defense by that number for one round
 - defensive decreases skill by a number but increases defense by that number for one round
- cirpigvent armor weapons - most likely magic types
- mag weapons - essence steal, magic damage
- have weapons/armor/sheilds break faster but broken items can be fixed (not destroyed like now)
 - "Your sword has broken!" Then it gets disarmed and put in inventory.

Some in there weren't in the post but I thought of them while reading.
