In Buisness tech at school, our assignment is this.
We Have To Build a computer from scratch for a client. this client has inhereted 6,000 AUD (4,974.91 USD) and our task is this. the client is a medical student, who occasionally teaches seminars and in his spare time is a gaming enthusiast. He Has inhereted 6k from his grandmother to build his computer. We are to build this computer from scratch and then create a brochure to sell it to him. this is what i have come up with so far, although im thinking im gonna have to downgrade some things to stay in the budget

3. Windows XP Professional, Because Windows Vista Has Compatibility Issues, and has a higher price tag.
4. To Keep His Computer Running Well, without freezing up he would need atleast a 400G Hard drive, 2 gig RAM, 768MB 384-bit Video Card, Lite-On 20x dvd+r 8x DVD+RW, 22‚ monitor LCD, ASUS Striker Extreme LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX The Ultimate Gaming Motherboard - Retail
5. HP Photosmart C6180 Q8181A up to 32 ppm Up to 4800 x 1200 dpi InkJet MFC, Creative 73VF004000026 352 x 288 30fps USB 1.1 Interface Webcam, The Printer is good because its an all in one Printer scanner fax and copier. And the webcam is also good.
6. Prices=
Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case = $139.99
Microsoft Windows XP Professional with SP2 = $279.99
Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 ST3400833AS 400gb Hard Drive = $99.99
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory = $99.99
Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard = $71.99
LITE-ON 20X DVDR DVD Burner with LightScribe Black =$41.99
ViewSonic Graphic Series VG2230wm Black 22" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor 280 cd/m2 700:1 Height & Tilt Adjustments = $319.99
ASUS Striker Extreme LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX The Ultimate Gaming Motherboard = $339.99

Please Comment and add things you like, or things that do the same but are cheaper. i want the monitor to stay atleast 20 inch.
I am Getting this stuff from newegg. btw i can go over budget by 200-300$$ as he can probably afford more being a college student with a job.

SABRENT TV-PCIRC PCI Interface TV Tuner / Video Capture / MPEG Recording PCI Card with Remote Control - $19.99 I dont know whether he would have a use for this, but i would so meh.

RAIDMAX RX-630A ATX12V / EPS12V 630W Power Supply 115/230 V CB, IEC, TUV, UL, CSA - $99.99
Intel Celeron D 356 Cedar Mill 3.33GHz 512KB L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor = $49.50

GIGABYTE GH-PCU23-VE 92mm Ball CPU Cooler - Retail = $34.99 - i liked the price and i have heard that the original fans are no good, plus the case already has fans i think

you may as well dual boot it, so you get all the nice benefits of the medical software available for linux. hell, you could triple boot it and have Mac OSX for doing presentations (which are 100% about eyecandy nowadays.)

he's got $5000 to spend on a computer.. why save $40 on half the harddrive? It only took me 2 months to fill my 320gb..

wolf.. I'd get a couple 500GB drives and raid them..

stop being cheap.. I'd love to spend $5000 on a build

do that in america and theyd expel you from school and press legal charges. paranoid tigering country..

my school offers wolfty classes but for super smart comp users (geeks) theres a technician position, basically you get to spend an hour a day running the school network, in return your user account has complete and total admin control.

i got to a votech school for Networking, though. We focus on Novell networks specifically with servers/clients and all that jazz. Plus cable monkying.

cool project btw. make sure to get like a quad core proccer

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T CLICK ME
IT is 10% planning and 90% trying to fix everything that didnt go as planned.

you could spend like 500 on the damn cpu itself... with 5000 i think it'd be kinda hard to hit the max budget unless you go overboard

at my high school, lots of people got that anyways, even though they weren't supposed to... tigering buggy ass windows
