Been messing around with new map creation. Looking for something more realistic.

hmm, I'll adjust it somewhat. Maybe 1 point per level from 1 to 20 then 2 then 4 then 8, etc.

The whole point of limiting skill points was to limit the number of skills people can get.
So you want me to make skills cheaper? after I limited skill points? Doesn't that just leave us back where we were?

Also, I looked at your skills.ini file and did not like it. In general, skills were too cheap. It looks like it would be OK if gaining levels was slowed down a lot.

ALSO, saying I am "stupid as hell" without giving any evidence to back up your claim... is lamers. For the first time in a long time, I am listening to players and that is what you have to say? I am really trying to understand but maybe I am too old, heh.

OK, so the code I am setting up has the skill point rewards for the following levels...

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 96, 112, 128, 144, 160, 176, 192

So with 40 starting points, by level 40 you will have gotten 59 total points to spend.

Hows does that sound to try out?

Um, armor and shields have all this already or maybe I don't understand?
They have all types of AL and any skill bonus.
Or are you just asking for more than just Magnetite and Magma?
Well, I plan to have magnetite alloy ores that have magic AL and elemental AL.

Quests for pure traders could be mine this, make that, unlock and fetch something, cook a meal, etc. It doesn't have to involve any kind of combat or risk to life.
I like the idea of earning the Mastery then it uncaps the skill. I am kinda thinking of doing the slow down on skill point earning but have all trade skills capped until you do the mastery quest for it maybe. *Thinks*.... I think it would be something implemented later though since a mastery quest would have to be made for each trade skill, well, at least the important ones at first.

So, I am gonna go with the simplest solution, the slow down and see how it goes. If it sucks then I can revert it and have the system give out the proper points or tell you to go fly a kite.

As far as the weapon variable idea you people keep mentioning, which is OFF topic you monkeys, I think I could do it easy enough. We already have + boosts and that is all that you are saying you want is permanent + on a weapon or armor but it isn't magic based, just physical.

Oh and another thing... no flaming in the RPGWO2 forum. You are gonna force me to learn how to delete your crap... and that makes me ... thirsty for a beer.

Long ago, maybe in the Liberty era, we tried skill exclusions which is basically what Drav is talking about. The code is still there even!
But... it did not work out. It wasn't what I wanted and majority of players did not like it either. I am not big on limiting players hence
a world players can form and shape. A class system doesn't fit that ideaology so I am not gonna add them. I did use classes on RPG
Party which went well but that was mainly so you could more easily manage up to 8 players at once.

But the main issue I got from this thread is trying to get players to be less independant and more reliant on each other.
Possible Solutions:

1- slow down skill point gaining that way they have less skills
  - level 1 to 10 : 1 point per level
  - level 10 to 20 : 1 point per 2 levels
  - level 20 to 30 : 1 point per 4 levels
  - level 30 and up : 1 point per 8 levels
  - something like that

2- limit skill points at creation

3- used to have mastery skills, that boosted melee, missle, magic, trade skills and they were exclusive. We don't care about combat
    skills so maybe add mastery for trade skills. Without mastery, a skill limited to 200 or 300. With mastery, they can be unlimited.
    We would not need mastery for all trade skills, just the main ones: blacksmith, farming, masonry, carpentry, fletching, locksmith, etc.
    Haven't really thought this one out. Might just be like what I mentioned in Liberty world, years ago.

I am gonna take a good look at weather and such. It would be nice to have snow, that way the white ground comes from some where and not a temperature thing. As far as it affecting skills, not sure.

A 10x10 is fine for now. With the multi-map system, I can, in theory, expand the world anytime... Just need to code it, heh.

I am basically doing that to all the weapons, the recolor, etc, just to get a base/starting point.
Then I will replace weapons as people send them to me. That way I am not sitting around waiting for it to rain in the desert and I keep moving forward with Horizon.

Yeah sounds like me. The problem is... artists are flakes. I usually get 3-4 offers a year to "redo" RPGWO artwork. I say sure, send me some of this and that redone.....1 week......2 weeks.....1 month.....1 year.....I never get anything. I usually forget all about them after a month now. Plus they never reply to email although they probably learned that from me, heh.
So, I don't bother with artists. In fact, I will bet money Pepin will flake. No offense. It just my experience as a Level 35 Programmer/Artist/Lover.

I would like to see all the daggers in one file, swords in another, etc, so they will be grouped by type and reasonably organized.

No, the plot isn't Grayvyn or Dino or any existing race. It will be something new. Not sure if any fantasy story has it. Gawd knows there are a million fantasy tales so I was probably influenced by something.

Why are you all still talking about UT? I said he is a non-issue.

BTW, Horizon, test world, is up so go ahead and email me.
