@Flambelk, that is why I am making V7 or the new name is Guild Vale. 2D, pixel, MMO-RPG, sandbox.

I saw other 2D MMO-RPGs on phones and was like, WTF, I can make that in less than a year... maybe.
IMO you just should grab v1 or v2 and improve map editor, and create some sort of monster, item, spell editor.

Once you set up some sort of user-friendly interface, the rest of the game-making will be less anoying.
Think about it, its a job you'll do once, but once it's finished, the rest will become less frustrating than manually scrolling down an endless txt/cfg file.

Perhaps you could make topic asking players for ideas, I must say V1 was already pretty good and fun.

Combat system was good enough (maybe adding combat skills for non-mages?), magic too (except lock/unlock, made locksmithing rather irrelevant, should be nerfed).
Skills such as alchemy, cooking, blacksmith, fletching, all felt rewarding and worth training (that's way more many MMOs run by companies such as wow have managed to, you should value that Mick).
The game did not that feel boring, like those that require too much repetitive grinding. (some MMOs seem to want their games to become their players actual lives).
Land owning system is great.

Maybe add "spell stones" to mining ores that get combined with wood sticks in order to make wands. Not sure. Probably will wait and see before I add wand making.
You could craft thos spells stones out of raw jewels.

Back in the day, I worked in a V1 server which had summoning spells, similar to making golems.

There was in this spell that created Soul Orbs (mana expensive, fuel-sort of item that looked like a Zircon orb), and players could summon creatures out of this orbs, just like golems. Except you summoned drakes and other magic creatures.

RPGWO V6 / V7 / Re: Can u make a Proper Client!!
« on: January 07, 2019, 03:43:34 pm »
we all loved V1/V2 so Mickey redesigned it completely all the way up to V6 where it now sucks.
I don't like agreeing with Drav, but for once he is right...V1 was a great game, V2 had new stuff improving on V1.  V6 just seems like a whole new game, not the rpgwo we all played and loved.
I agree (I have to point that the person who made the original post in question was very rude).

To this day, I still prefer V1.
V2 did bring some improvement (multiple mining levels never quite convinced me much, however the possibility of making dungeons with multiple levels is clearly good).

Of course you can improve the inner workings of the client.

I always thought improving the ways in which item, usage and spells data is created, modified, stored, would have helped RPGWO a great deal. Making more user-friendly would have been great.

RPGWO is a sandbox game, of course the game was created by Mickey, but also RPGWO fed from the creative minds and ideas of people who throughout the time, created their own servers and content, sharing that dream of seeing people having fun in a cool sandbox RPG Word Online. Making some sort of interface to facilitate that creation of content would have been great.

IMO that is all that RPGWO needed. And adding some sort of features that encourages further social interaction within the game too, like hunting in party, sharing exp, etc. Community is the core.

I don't want to sound mean, many years(10?) have passed since even V2 came out, and I don't really think RPGWO has gone anywhere during this time (also, the graphics of the newer versions, I find them unappealing).

It makes more sense to  to merge Blacksmith and Refining, since both are actions related to metallurgy.

« on: January 07, 2019, 03:00:21 pm »
I don't think overhunting is a good idea.
Does it add anything fun to the game? IMO I don't think so.

When you make a game, one always comes up with lots of ideas of think that would "make sense", but one must always keep in mind that a game has to be fun to play.

IMO people would find it frustrating and anoying if the area where they are hunting suddenly becomes slower.

Hunt mode, on the other seems to add something interesting. Another idea would be to make hunting drop extra materials from professions such as cooking or leatherworking.

RPGWO V6 / V7 / Re: Time for a New Name?
« on: January 07, 2019, 02:36:58 pm »
your new site's page seems to be broken sort of...

it scrolls enough for you to see the top of whatever is written under "Created by:", but not enough to actually make it out.  though looking at the "made with" at the top of the logo for the html editor you used I'm wondering if you meant to cut that out, and maybe a little more...
Yeah, RPGWO could seriously use a new webpage, Facebook page... and so.

Not that it all of that would take more than 48 hs to get done.

It's relatively little effort and it would make a huge difference, basically people would the know the game, or project, or whatever, exists.

Right now, who others than old players and its developers knows about RPGWO?

If RPGWO receives a new name, it should reflect its sandboxy, community friendly nature...

I'm quite sure RPGWO does have a future, it only needs advertisement. RPGWO 1 was one hell of a game.

Pixel art and sandbox games are making a comeback nowadays. The game industry has reached a point in which most game players are giving more value to simple, fun games with good playability over time consuming and dull games with cutting edge graphics.

It's happening all over the place IMO.

RPGWO V3 / Re: Start a new smaller, more stable, V3 world?
« on: November 09, 2017, 09:44:34 am »
V1?  seriously?

I've tried Mo, it does have a large friendly community, but you're also really limited in what you can do there.  I'm always a crafter, but there to be a crafter you have to be a better fighter since you can't get to resource gathering areas unless you can kill the monsters along the way.
Steeltide was V1? Wasn't it?

Throughout the years I came to realize the enjoyability of RPGWO was in  being a laid-back game with a friendly community, that's what people sought in it. Most players didn't play RPGWO for its graphics, for hardcore PVP nor for grinding levels endlessly.

RPGWO was just a cool place to chill and have a break.
Building your land, planting crops, making pots and runes, while chatting with people.

IMO some of the people who ran servers lost sight of that, and the game eventually died.

A V1 RPGWO server would be cool, if it it was well made.

I am playing myself RPGMO (http://rpg.mo.ee/), it's got a friendly community.

If you want try
http://rpgwoforums.net/index.php?topic=4580.0
also using bluevm.com Their cheapest plans can host rpgwo with no problems.
And Yes I hosted a server that was once on the public server list. It had many active players and made well over $200USD in a month.
Not in for cash I just want to be a cruel demi-god like UT make a cool fantasy world.

plus there are like 4 RPGWO servers online at the moment.

Phantasy: closed
Lumeria: is...well not online anyway
Ganymede: old and kind of hard to break into it
Hex: they removed the ability to sell things to npcs, which means theres not a lot of money flowing around on the server, so if you need something you either have to beg or barter for it...and it slows things down.  especially since land costs 5k, which means an alchemist who has no npc to sell potions to has to grind finding seeds in the wild making potions and trying to find someone with a few coins who will buy them(or work with someone that can mine gold and make coins) before farming/making potions actively

a new server is sort of needed, but with Mickey working on 1 I'd say now probably isn't the best time to start working on another.
Well, that is sort of good news, that might motivate me to get on it.

Right now I spent most of the time playing CoD... <_<

Firstly I should turn make the map 10x10. 5x5 might be too small.

The better question is what the hell is wrong with you.
Your question was answered on my second sentence of my first post.
Are you illiterate?
Clearly all you wanted to do here is brag about your server/maps... Make your own damn topic!

EDIT: This is why my sig reads as it does, RPGWOForums where people like flam will find any chance they can to troll.
Fair/balanced is not quite a description of a server, I meant like. are you planning it to be PK/Non PK/Steal/No-Steal/Newbie Friendly/Roleplay?

And I take the second part as my bad, I should have asked "Have you actually hosted a server?" to be more clear. Because I have no idea how to do it.

Either way there is nothing wrong with me, you said you were looking for mapmakers, then you asked me to share some of my work, I showed you some my maps and you flipped the **** out.

nobody is going to play either of your servers
Maybe, but making a server is fun.

I mean, it's not finished and I'm not working on it atm(and I don't know if I will anytime soon) anyway, plus there are like 4 RPGWO servers online at the moment.

Mine is supposed to be a server with a nice world, with something along the lines of a plot.

Have you actually made a server before?

I'll upload some pics in a sec.

What kind of server is it going to be?

I was working on making a ST like server, I've got 98 maps( around 60 quests/towns, some of them based in old quests and others news), but since I started college 2 months ago I haven't really worked on it, albeit it was maybe 50% finished(I had to finish some of high level quests, PVP, think how to connect the plot, and then work on items and magic).

Maybe the message is too long? I can't really think of anything else.

Well I suggest you recheck the NPCs that were already in the in the monster.ini file and check that everything is alright and there is no difference(aside of text and items for sale etc)

Size, shape decoration and content wise?

Is it better if they are small(like 20x20)? I made a 40x40 with two floors but I that's better off for an LMS.

Should there be traps with buffs and debuffs?
