RPGWO V3 / Re: Land Claim Size
« on: May 12, 2017, 12:18:59 am »
One thing to watch out for with having more smaller plots though is players being able to wall off areas much easier. If someone were to just keep claiming plots in a vertical line it could become incredibly tedious to navigate around them when they are inevitably walled off.
lol I was just thinking about this, but not a vertical line...

just imagine some ass claiming every plot around the edge of town, anyone who starts after that is locked in, and anyone who dies and isn't attuned to a lifestone is trapped later.  on a non-pk server could be a good way to make money though..."50 gold to get through". ;D

Well this is sort of a problem already with 20x20. Near town so many plots claimed with walls on the outer edge making it hard to get by.

Also to completely wall off an entire town would take MANY 10x10 plots

I definitely like the more flexible 10x10. Would mean more useful land also. With 20x20 many plots only have half its size useful because of water/mountains, som plots even less. With smaller you can claim the half or quarter that is actually useful.

I was thinking about what Greatest says about the costs. We dont want to make it too expensive in the start but we need (or at least always used to need) a money drain for high levels. So simply make the price increase formula exponential rather than linear. Mayb make the four first  plots always cost 250 and then a exponential increase after that.

Overall I like.

As Greatest said bronze should not be mineable. It is made from copper and tin. Same way we could have steel makable from iron and something. Didn't we ahev that already in the past btw? Also maybe more of these "improved" materials.

For usage I prefer to be able to make the process a bit "automatic" without making it too macro friendly. I hate to click ore, click crucible, click pit, click this click that ... one item made. Trade skills are a pain in the ass like that. I prefer to have a stack, run that stack through a use by "repeat last use", then move on to the next step. With several steps suggested here I think it will work fine. The last step could be abused but you'd need to get there first. Collect all the ores, heat them into ingots and then heat them again and place them on ground.

Also agree with greatest on the upgrading stuff or rather creating parts that are put togheter to final product. Make a basic leather armor, make plates, put them togheter for plated leather armor. Smith makes shovelhead, carpenter makes handle and then they are put togheter.

Finally, a tiny bit off topic but this cant be said often enough, make sure smithing is the primary mean of getting weapons and tools. NOT monster drops. Have monsters drop stuff that can be turned into weapons. But not finished weapons and certinly not enchanted ones.

Something is wrong. Can barely move even when buffed up to high run skill. Couldn't outrun a spine even when I set a destination far away and let my little one run for his life

Ah in the days when only one sector had monsters, fixed spawn points for each monster and a official forum thread to find where each type of monster spawned. Excellent times!

DO OVER!

Also logical drops from them baddies! No more Psychio Rabbit drop magical spear of doom with +57 spear skill, making blacksmithing useless.

1.15 Servers / Re: ITEM INIT FAIL

I figured it out, sort of. It somehow had to do with the regional settings of my windows. When I changed the "standards and formats" setting from swedish to american english everything is fine.

1.15 Servers / ITEM INIT FAIL
« on: January 03, 2010, 02:48:45 pm »
So I downloaded the server and wanted to fiddle around with it but something seem wrong. I did nothing but unpack it and run server.exe then I  a popup that says critical error item init fail. Followed by a modItemDef_ItemID for every item in the game. Plus a bunch of other errors. Anyway the server then "work", I can create an account and enter the world but everything is empty. No items or anything. Only snowy hills and water.
