How are you starting the client?

Try Start Button, Run, <client path>\client2.exe 127.0.0.1:6015
You need to start the client2.exe directly. I don't think the "Specify" option works from the updater for V2.

when i try and run it that way i get a run time error and the client never tries to connect to my server. although when i specify ip and run it threw the updater everything updates attempts to connect but is using v 1.15. so it fails..  im running windows 7.

Do you have a local.files folder with all the client .bmp, .dat, etc. files?

Probably something missing in local.files. If you have Fancy Lad.Files then copy everything in there to local.files. dune.files can work or the current phantasy.files as a source.

should i rename the folder dune.files?  not local.files?

No it uses local.files if you specify the IP and port.

client2.exe <ip>:<port>

You can try and edit connect.ini and add your world data then set it read only and try and run that way.

Oh, make sure you run it in admin mode. That might be the issue.

Maybe I should just add a line in connect.ini for V2 Local so people don't have to hack around it and mess with connect.ini???
